Mangalore, Dec 10, 2012: Thieves who broke into a jewellery shop at Bendorewell in Mangalore on the night of December 9, Sunday have decamped with valuables worth nearly Rs 6.9 lakhs.
The theft which occurred at Manjushree Jewellers, came to light on the morning of December 10, Monday when the owner Manjunath Shet opened the shop.
The thieves had gained entry into the shop by drilling a hole on the rear wall of the jewellery shop. The stolen valuables include silver articles weighing 4.9 kg, gold ornaments weighing 21 grams and jewellery worth Rs 18000 meant for repair.
Kadri police who are investigating the case have suspected that the theft might be the handiwork of at least two to three people.
