Mangalore : Lifer for man who killed his friend

 Mangalore, april 6, 2013  : A court in Mangalore has sentenced  a person from Honnali to life imprisonment  for intoxicating and  killing his own friend.

The person convicted is Mallappa Basappa Aihole.  Mallappa who eyed his friend Mallesha Mallappa Honnali’s (30) wife Neelamma who hailed from Badami but worked in Mangalore, had come to Mangalore  in search of her. He then got his friend addicted to alcohol and  began to pester Neelamma to desert her alcoholic husband.

 When Neelamma turned down his demand,  Mallappa  took Mallesha to Kasba Bengre beach on January 9, 2011 and after making him consume alcohol, stabbed him to death.

Mallappa was arrested by the Panambur police.

The Additional District and Sessions Court  has now sentenced him to life term and has also slapped a penalty of Rs 5000 on him. He will have to undergo another  three weeks of rigorous imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine amount.
