Mangalore, Feb 11: A latest tilling instrument perfected by Mangalore Robotronics’ Technologies can make a farmer’s job very easy indeed. This electronic kit will enable farmers to guide their power tillers by a remote control. They can comfortably settle down in the shade and watch the electronic tiller at work.
Mangalore Robotronics’ Technologies, which markets agricultural technology, was founded by Vijay Kumar Bangera, who was once employed in the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, and his son Prajwal Kumar. The father and son are now busy getting a patent for their kit, which they took five years to complete. Prajwal said that the technology eliminates the necessity of walking behind or along a power tiller for hours. Farmers who use it can comfortably relax in the shade of a tree and watch the machine do its work.
The kit comprises a hand-held remote unit, a controller unit that has to be installed on the power tiller, and a compact air compressor to power the pneumatics. The device makes use of radio frequency to transmit signals from hand remote unit to the controller unit.
VST Tillers and Tractors Limited, a Bangalore-based company, will market and install the device in India and Africa, said Prajwal.
