Mangalore-based inventor invents female mosquito killer

Mangalore, Feb 2:  Ignatius Orwin Noronha, an inventor of Mangalore, has developed MozziQuit, a device that attracts and kills female mosquitoes. 

Noronha displayed his device at the India Semiconductor Association (ISA) in Bangalore on Wednesday and said that he has used a special additive that can attract female mosquitoes. The mosquitoes are then sucked into the device, killed, and collected in a bin attached to the bottom of the device. He said that the product will get a change of design at the national design institute. Currently, the product is priced at Rs 2,990. 

Noronha is a commerce graduate of Mangalore. He worked for an American manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia before embarking on his mission of developing a cost-effective device to destroy mosquitoes.
