Mangalore-born golf star shines in America

Mangalore, June 5: Rigel Fernandes of Mangalore has bagged the US FCWT National Golf Championship in the 13 - 15 year category held at the PGA National Golf Club - Championship Course in Florida on May 29 - 31. Rigel has done extremely well in FCWT (Future Collegiate World Tour) and HJGT (Hurricane Junior Golf Tour) leagues of 2010. He won six tournaments and finished 2nd in the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) tournament held at Braselton, Georgia in April.

Rigel, a ninth grade student, is receiving golf training at the IMG Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He is the only 13-year-old to have entered Leadbetter 1st All American Golf Team in 2010. He has also gained entry to the 2nd All American FCWT team.
