Mangalore, May 26: The Mangalore plane crash, which claimed 158 lives, doesn’t seem to have filled regular air travelers with the fear of flying. Air India office reports that 123 passengers flew from Mangalore to Dubai and 99 passengers arrived from Dubai to Mangalore on the very next day, Sunday.
An AI official said that 139 people flew to Dubai on Monday and 110 people arrived at Mangalore. On Tuesday, 103 passengers arrived from Dubai. The daily AI flight was scheduled for late evening on Tuesday.
Executive Director of the Southern Region of Air India, Chennai, said that people must travel in spite of accidents. He added that the incident of Saturday has not brought down the traffic to destinations such as Muscat, Kuwait, Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain.
Kishen also spoke about the arrangements made by the AI to counsel its crew to recover from the incident. Unmarried AI staff usually lived together; and death of a colleague has a devastating effect on them, he explained.
An AI spokesperson said that the details of the crash have been uploaded on airindiaexpress.in, its official website.
Besides bearing the hospital expenses of those injured in the crash, AI will also assist people to claim the compensation.
