Mangaloreans organize all-religion condolence meet for plane crash victims

Mangalore, May 30: Palemar Seer Shri Vidyadeeshateertha Swamiji said during an all-religion condolence meeting organized at Bunts Hotel on May 28, Saturday, that the plane crash of May 22 has saddened the entire town. Mentioning that life is precious, he said that he hoped God would give the bereaved families strength to bear the loss the loved ones and move on with life. Fr. Denis Moras, speaking about the inevitability of death, said that it is wise to live in harmony, brotherhood, and peace. Mangalore Kazi Al-haj Twaka Ahmed Musliyar said that time brings an end to everything, observing that people no longer have faith in what life has in store for them. 

D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the MP of Udupi, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and said that the plane crash is the most tragic event of modern times. He assured the audience that sincere efforts are being made to extend the runway and tighten security at Mangalore Airport. 

Nalin Kumar Kateel, the MP of Mangalore, said that all the elected representatives will pressurize the central and state governments to provide adequate compensation to the families of the victims. 

A memorandum demanding a single window system offering all facilities related to relief and compensation at one place for the benefit of the families of the plane crash victims was submitted to Chief Minister Yeddyurappa and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh through MLA U. T. Khader. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of DK Kannada Sahitya Parishad, read out the memorandum.

Ajith Kumar Rai Malady, the convener of the committee, delivered the introductory speech. Ivan D’Souza, the vice president of the district Congress, proposed the vote of thanks. 

MLAs Abhyachandra Jain and Yogish Bhat, MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik, Sikh religious leader Gyani Balraj Singh, politican and Yakshagana artist Kumble Sunder Rao, and others participated in the condolence meeting.
