Mangaluru, Sep 19, 2016: In a bid to explore the understanding of women’s issues, power relations and generation of women entrepreneurship, the Dept of MSW at St. Aloysius College is set to organize a Two Day National Seminar - SAMPRATHI 2016 on the theme ‘Women in Changing India’ on 20th and 21st of September 2016.
Dr Ruth Manorama, President, National Alliance for Women and Right Livelihood Awardee 2006 will inaugurate the event at 10:30 am and explore the opportunities and challenges for women in today’s era of political openness immediately following the inauguration.
The highlight of the two-day event is a Panel session titled ‘Transcending Challenges faced by Women’ analyses dual role challenges in women and process of change in battered women. A victim of violence will share her experience on the process of change in her life. Students and educators will also present their research and concept papers on the themes of the seminar.
The seminar will explore the significant changes in women’s position in Modern India and will analyze the further opportunities for women. It also unveils the challenges for women and discusses the role of Professional Social Workers in ensuring transformation for Indian Women.
