Mangaluru, June 4, 2015: A press note from Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities (MCPH) informs it set is to organise the 3rd International Deleuze Studies in Asia Conference here from June 5, Friday to June 7, Sunday. The aim of the conference was to promote the ideas of Gilles Deleuze and Pierre-Felix Guattari in India.
The conference is organised in partnership with the international journal ‘Deleuze Studies’. Gilles Deleuze (1925-1995) and Pierre-Felix Guattari (1930-1992) were two French philosophers. Pierre-Felix Guattari is best known for his intellectual collaborations with Gilles Deleuze, most notably ‘Anti-Oedipus’ (1972), ‘A Thousand Plateaus’ (1980) and two volumes on ‘Capitalism and Schizophrenia’.
The three-day conference will see research paper being presentated by more than 60 scholars from different countries. Apart from these presentations, 12 eminent Deleuzian scholars will be delivering lectures on important concepts of Deleuzian philosophy.
As part of the conference, a special cultural programme by Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bengaluru, will be staged at the Gangubai Hanagal Auditorium on the campus of Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities on June 6, Sturday. The formation of ’Deleuze Studies in India Collective’ (DSIC) will be formally announced by Paul Patton, professor from Australia.
