Mangalore, June 11: The passengers of a Mangalore - Mumbai private bus and a Maruti Omni, which collided on the national highway near Manir in Kumta survived miraculously. 

Sources stated that the Maruti Omni was headed toward Manki in Honnavar and collided with the bus, which was trying to overtake a truck on the opposite site. 

The bus driver applied the brakes on time and averted a major tragedy. However, the angry passengers of the Omni beat up the bus driver. The matter was later amicably settled.
