Mescom fines Gram Panchayat president for power theft

Mangalore, Dec 6: Mescom’s intelligence squad raided the Ramalkatte house of Mohammed Volavoor, the Gram Panchayat President of Thumbe Gram Panchayat, and found that he was guilty of power theft. The Mescom, therefore, lodged a power theft complaint against him. 

Mohammed Volavoor now stands accused of stealing power from Mescom’s power lines and for using it to run his pump set as well as other electrical appliances in his house. He has been fined a hefty sum of Rs 68,000 for the offence of power theft. 

Thimmappa Gowda, the assistant executive engineer of Mescom, said that the company has also severed Mohammed’s electricity connection.
