Minor gang raped by 6 men, 3 arrested

Mangalore, Nov 8, 2012 : A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by a group of six men at Venoor in Belthangady. The police have already arrested 3 of them.

The arrested are Asif, Irshad Arambodi, and Nawaz Kunadabettu. The other three Santhu, Santhosh Shetty, and Nawaz are absconding. All of them are in the age group of 20 – 25.

According to a complaint filed by the victim, the accused dragged her into an auto rickshaw at Moodubidri Bus Stand, took her to a house in Venoor, and raped her. The local people got suspicious, broke open the door, and found her in a serious condition. They immediately took the victim to the Venoor police station, and the Venoor police turned her over to the Bajpe police.

The Bajpe police then took her to a hospital for treatment and medical examination.

The police have registered a case against the men under Sections 214 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code. They are now investigating the case under the guidance of Inspector Dinakar Shetty.
