Udupi, July 6, 2013: Acting on a tip off, officials of the Labour Department rescued a 13 year old boy who was working in a milk booth close by the DC office at Manipal, on July 6, Saturday.

The child from Shimoga, it is learnt was a school dropout due to poverty and ailing mother. It is learnt, one Oswald D’Souza owned the booth.

The Labour Department officials said the boy will be sent to a special residential school for child workers at Kedur in Koteshwara if he was found to be below 13 years or else will be entrusted to the custody of his parents.

 Labour Inspectors Ramachandra and Ravi Kumar R were part of the raiding team.
