Mangaluru, Oct 15, 2015 :  Muslim Educational Association that manages Badria Institutions at Kandak here is gearing up for ’Badria 100’ in 2024 when the institution completes its centenary. Giving itself nine years to prepare for what the association terms will be a historic occasion, it has prepared an ambitious blueprint to take up Rs 100 crore expansion programme of the institutions under Badria 100, including setting up an alternate educational campus in the vicinity of the city.

The association announced its ’Badria 100’ plan on Oct 14. by releasing the logo as well as its blueprint. The plan has a socio-religious-educational thrust to it in that in not only entails upgradation of the Kandak campus and building a new campus, but also refurbishing Badria and Faize mosques in the city. Students will get to study modern curriculum based education combined with Islamic studies with Arabic as medium.

P C Hashir, convener of steering committee set up for the purpose told reporters that the existing Kandak campus spread over 54 cents in the heart of the city presents little scope for expansion. Alternate locations in the vicinity of the city for our proposed new campus is being checked, he said adding the association intends to tap in to its 20,000 plus strong alumni base that is spread across the world. Alumni are doing well and they will spearhead ’Badria 100’. 

What has spurred the association to envisage ’Badria 100’ is the fact that it will earn the distinction of being the first Muslim run educational institution in the city to complete 100 years in service to society.


This period from now to 2024 to ensure that various components of the plan falls in place are needed, he said adding the association will also set up overseas chapters of Badria 100 mainly in the Gulf and other nations where the alumni of the association are based.
