Mangalore, Feb 12: The Congress demanded the arrest of Sri Rama Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik for threatening to disrupt Valentines Day celebrations, but said that it was not responsible for the recent attack on Muthalik.
R V Deshpande, the KPCC president, accused Muthalik of disrupting law and order and said that the police ought to have taken him into preventive custody by now. He also said that Congress activists had nothing to do with the blackening of Muthalik’s face when he was about to participate in a TV debate on Valentines Day on Wednesday. On the other hand, he said that he condemned such attacks.
Defending the observance of events such as Valentines Day and Fathers Day, he said that people had the right to celebrate these days and Shri Rama Sene had no right to dictate terms to the citizens.
