Nanthoor-Kadri road re-opening may fuel traffic snarls

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, April 18, 2016: Traffic nightmares are imminent it is felt as Mangaluru City Traffic Police are readying to open the newly concreted Nanthoor-Kadri Road. The road has been closed for two-way traffic from the past two months. Before the road was closed the Nanthoor Circle was a motorist’s nightmare. But after the Nanthoor-Kadri road was closed, traffic seemed to move with minimal problems.

Mangaluru city Assistant commissioner of police (Traffic) Uday Nayak says: The major reason for easing of Nanthoor hurdle was the diversion of buses from Moodabidri towards Mahaveer Circle. Now that the traffic will be restored on towards the city, we will have to view the situation and make necessary modifications so that Nanthoor Circle does not turn into chaos as earlier.

Nayak also said that there will no path way near Chef’s, between Nanthoor and Kadri,  to allow vehicles to turn into  Coconut Garden (Thare Thota) side. "The diversion will be ahead towards Nanthoor bus stop as the road is wider and blocks avoided," he pointed out.
