Mangalore, Feb 10: Narayana Nethralaya in association with Parivartana Foundation and Mandarthi’s Durga Parameshwarai Temple will conduct a two-day eye screening camp for school children on February 9 and 10, 2010, at Mandarthi in the Durga Parameshwari Kalyana Mantap premises.
The main aim of the camp is to detect eye problems in school children and treat them immediately. More than 2400 school children belonging to the village panchayat jurisdiction of Heggunje, Aavarse and Billadi. The children will be screened for some of the common problems such as those arising out of vitamin A deficiency, ocular surface disorder, genetically transmitted diseases, cataract, retina related problems, cornea problems and eye cancer.
Narayana Nethralaya’s vice president Dr Rohit Shetty, children’s eye specialist Dr Ashwin C Mallipatna, and specialists Dr Kaushik, Dr Rashvi Shetty, Dr Narendra and Dr Rachana will participate in the camp.
The camp will be inaugurated by temple trustee Dhananjay Shetty. Narayana Nethralaya will provide treatment and spectacles to needy children free of cost.
