Mangalore, Dec 8: The organizers of the World Tulu Convention, which will be held at Ujire from Dec 10 - 13, will demonstrate the new Tulu script software Thawlava 2.0.
The Information Technology branch of the National Computer Literarcy Committee (NCLC) has developed this new software. Praveenraj S Rao, the software director, said that the Tulu software has been designed as per the ancient script of Tulu. Dr. Radhakrishna Belluri, Dr. Vignaraj Dharmasthala, Dr. Punduru Venkataraja Puninchithaya, and Dr. Padmanabha Kekunnaya offered their valuable suggestions and advise while designing the script.
Mr. Rao, speaking about the Thawlava script, said that the ancient script had to be modified in order to create the software; however, its original beauty has been left untouched. The Thawlava script has 50 letters and can be typed using Nudi software. The new software will be given some final touches based on suggestions given by experts at the World Tulu Convention before making it available to users, absolutely free of charge.
Advisor Ramachandra Uchil and software experts Harikrishna and Sathyashankar were present at the press conference.
