Nisargadhama cultural events to be held outside the area too

Mangaluru, AUG 10, 2015: The Shivarama Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama is proposing to organise its activities outside Pilikula also as the space is set to over flow .

Mangaluru :  As per a suggestion made by Principal Secretary to Education Department and district in-charge Secretary Bharatlal Meena during the Aati Kuta, a day-long cultural fest organised at the Nisargadhama Aug 9,  Sunday.  The Shivarama Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama is considering organise its activities outside Pilikula also as the space is set to over flow .

Speaking to media Secretary  Meena, who had a role in establishing the Nisargadhama during his tenure as DK Deputy Commissioner, said that the existing space in the Nisargdhama was being used for several activities. Nisargadhama can look for space  outside the present premises too.

This is now a tourist destination, an additional venue for Mangalureans to spend their weekends. More development can take place here with more investment.   Adding that activities at the Pilikula Biological Park, the Heritage Village, water park and science centre were catering to varied interests.

Mohammed Beary, a retired Forest Official and Coordinator of the Urban Eco Park coming up in Pilikula, said that it was proposed start trekking and create facilities for tourists in 1,000 acres of forest area in the District, this is in conceptual stage, it needs to be discussed with the Forest Department. 

DK Deputy Commissioner Adoor .B. Ibrahim, who is the present  chairperson of the Governing Council of the Pilikula Nisargadhama, said that very soon a list of year-long events to be held at the Pilikula Nisaragadhama would be announced.

This will be put up in the tourist calendar as a regular crowd needs to be attracted  to Pilikula.
