Mangalore, July 11, 2012 : Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO) , a constituent of Nitte University,
Will come into existence from this academic year.
The institute has designed courses in line with the UNESCO – AMIC Model Curriculum. The model curriculum recommends course content across three broad axes: professional skills, reflective study of media practices, and inclusion of arts and science component to promote well-in formed and socially sensitive journalists.
The Nitte university has tried to incorporate the UNESCO - Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC), Singapore’s Model Curriculum in the country by providing depth and focus to its mass communication curricula along the three recommends axes, it has included modules on development, contemporary history, globalization, cultural studies, Indian society and politics besides strengthening the practice of journalism with a clutch of modules on spcialised reporting.
Nitte is offering five programmers as its Panir campus in Mangalore: BA Journalism and Mass Communication, MA Journalism and Mass Communication, MA Media Production and Integrated Marketing Communication , MA Media management and Entertainment and, PG Diploma In Mass Communication , For Meritorious students Scholarship facility also available in NICO.
