Mangalore, Dec. 6: No more private buses from Mangalore to Kasargod. The Supreme Court has issued an order banning the plying of private buses between Mangalore and Kasargod.
The Kasargod Regional Transport Office has issued notices to private bus operators; and accordingly 38 private bus operators in Karnataka as well as 21 bus operators in Kerala stopped plying their buses between Mangalore and Kasargod from Dec 5. Some buses have received temporary permits from Anand Singh, the Kasargod district collector, to ply till Dec 7.
Henceforth only government buses will ply between Kasargod and Mangalore. Many students and professionals who used to rely on private bus services to move between the two cities will now face a number of difficulties because the government buses are unable to cater to the requirements of all the people who need to travel between Mangalore and Kasargod on a regular basis. Moreover, the employees of the private buses that used to ply between Mangalore and Kasargod are now in danger of losing their jobs.
