Oct 15 ’Rasta roko’ gets backing of Billavas, Bunts.

Mangaluru , Oct 14, 2015; At least two of the main stream Tuluva originals of Mangaluru  the  Billava Mahamandala and Bantara yane Nadavara Matru Sangha have supported the rasta roko called by Netravathi Nadi Samrakshana Okkuta in the city on October 15.

The Okkuta would block the national highway 66 at Mahaveera Circle to oppose the Yettinahole or Netravathi diversion project and urge the government to stop the ongoing works.

In a joint statement both the caste associations said the rasta roko would begin at 10 a.m. It was condemnable that notwithstanding the opposition of people to the project the government was hell bent that it would complete the project, the associations said.  The project would hit fisheries sector in addition to creating drinking water shortage in Dakshina Kannada.  All sections of the local residents and others have expressed grave opposition to this project yet the Govt. is turning a deaf ear to all reason.
