Mangalore, May 10: Only 45 metre stretch will be acquired for the widening of national highway 17 between Nanthoor and Talapady said Krishna J Palemar, District in-charge minister on April 8. He was interacting with city reporters after taking part in Grama Panchayat election campaign in Kumpala near ullal on May 8.
Palemar said that the state government has decided to give its nod after receiving a bundle of complaints from the hundred of families residing by the side of national highway. Earlier, The National Highway Development Authority had planned to acquire 60 metre stretch for widening the national highway between Nanthoor and Talapady.
He further added that, after a deep discussion between the officials of national highway development and government, the state government has decided to give its nod for the 45 metre land acquisition.
