Mangalore,  March, 19 :To mark the world oral health day which is celebrated on march 20th every year ,the Tobacco Intervention Initiative (TII) centre of A.J. Institute of dental sciences will conduct an awareness program on the ill effects of tobacco for all the Aganwadi workers of Dakshina Kannada district . DR. Vijaypraksh ,CEO ,Dakshina kannada Zilla Panchyath has kindly consented to be the chief guest . Mr Prashanth Shetty ,Vice President ,Laxmi Memorial Education trust will be the guest of honor.

Anganawadi workers, ASHAs ,School teachers and School children, are the target groups as they interact with the general public on a daily basis and are well equipped with a better insight of the problems of the community .

Later in the day a memorandum will be presented of the program that commences on the World Health Tobacco Day to the District Commissioner and the Commissioner of Police by the Indian dental association,Dakshina kannada Branch and TII centre , A.J. Institute of Dental sciences ,for the strict enforcement of COTPA, as the administration plays a crucial role as protectors of health by reducing tobacco consumption and can enable to curb the epidemic more effectively.

Dr.B Sureshchandra (Dean/Director, A.J. Institute of dental sciences) , Dr. Vijaya Hegde (Head of the Department of public Health Dentistry) , Dr. Shubhan S . Alva (Vice President,Indian Dental Association ,Karnataka Branch) , Dr. Rajani George (TII specialist and co-ordinatore,TII centre ,A.J. Insititute of Dental sciences ) were present at the press conference.
