Over 2,600 shool students expected for ’Pratibha Karanji’

Udupi, Oct 29, 2015 :  Speaking at a preparatory meeting to oversee the arrangements for the  State-level Pratibha Karanji cultural and literary competition to be held at Kaup from December 15 to 17;  Vinay Kumar Sorake, Urban Development Minister, said on Tuesday that over 2,600 high school students from across the State were expected to participate. 

Minister Sorake said that the government had sanctioned Rs. 50 lakh for organising the State-level competition, of which Rs. 20 lakh was meant for prizes. Students from classes 8 to 10 would participate in the competitions.  There would be individual competitions and group competitions.

The competitions would be held at the Vidyaniketan Public School in Kaup. Committees had been formed to look after different aspects of the event. It was also decided to provide accommodation for the over 2,600 students from 34 educational districts of the State at various nearby schools and halls.

Katapady Shankar Poojary, Arun Shetty Padur, zilla panchayat members, Lalaji Mendon, former MLA, K.P. Acharya, correspondent of Vidyaniketan Public School, Diwaker Shetty, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, and other officials, were present.
