Over Rs. 5.8 lakh in foreign notes seized

Mangaluru, Sep 16, 2019: The Central Industrial Security Force personnel at Mangaluru International Airport, on Sunday evening, seized over ₹5.8 lakh in foreign currency, from a passenger bound for Dubai.

According to a CISF official, the Air Security Group personnel frisked Harry Stephen D’Souza at 7 p.m. and found him possessing U.S. dollars, equivalent to ₹2.94 lakh, and dirhams, equivalent to ₹2.93 lakh. D’Souza had booked a ticket to Dubai by an Air India flight.

As per the standard operating procedure, the CISF personnel handed over D’Souza to the Customs officials for further investigation.
