Mangalore, Dec 22: The Mangalore unit of the Prison Ministry of India (PMI) organized a Christmas programme for the inmates of the district sub jail.
Fr. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, spoke to the prisoners and encouraged them to transform their lives and go home to happy lives and happy families.
Dr. J N Bhat, the medical superintendent of Omega Hospital, was the chief guest of the occasion. He wished all the prisoners a merry Xmas and congratulated the PMI for organizing the event. He said that all celebration must result in refinement of the mind and help one develop a positive attitude toward life.
The PMI donated a charger light and a television set to brighten up the lives of the prison inmates. The ICYM of Holy Cross Church, Kulshekar, presented a colorful cultural programme to cheer up the inmates.
Fr. Walter D’Souza, the coordinator of the Mangalore Unit of PMI, made the welcome speech. Sr Dephny read the annual report and Molly Kamath proposed the vote of thanks. The master of ceremonies was Stany D’Souza. Felix D’Souza of Kulshekar sponsored the programme.
