Pensioners stir on December 16 at NMPT

Mangaluru, Dec 16, 2015: A call given by the All India Federation of Port and Dock Pensioners Association, New Mangalore Port Pensioners Welfare Association has decided to observe protest cum pensioners day, on December 16.

The association members will stage a protest in front of the NMPT administrative building in Panambur at 10.30 am, to draw the attention of the port management/Ministry of Shipping towards the full implementation of the recommendations of the committee on consolidation of pension for all group C and D retirees up to December 31, 2011.

A hand out indicates that one of the major dispute of the pensioners association is that in spite of the recommendations made by the committee constituted by the ministry who have recommended for the consolidation of pension with effect from January 1, 2012 and even after the same duly concurred by the IPA governing body, still the Ministry of Shipping has clarified that basic pension of employees who have retired between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2011 will not be eligible.
