Plaint against students’ discrimination on basis of caste

Mangalore Today News Network

Belthangady, March 02, 2020:    Parents of some of the students of Laila Padladi Government School have filed a complaint at Belthangady police station, accusing the teachers of discriminating their children on the basis of caste.

Barring the students hailing from SC/ST communities, the teachers had taken other students to a house warming ceremony recently. The students of Class V, VI and VII had accompanied the teachers to a house warming ceremony nearby.

However, the students belonging to SC/ST communities were not taken along, parents alleged.

Accusing the teachers of indulging in discrimination on the basis of caste, the parents have demanded suspension of teachers and have also complained to Social Welfare department.

Reacting to the incident, Block Education Officer Lokesh said, ‘’The issue has come to our notice. Officers concerned will be sent to the school. Based on the report by the officials, future course of action will be initiated.’’
