Police Seize Illegal Sand

Mangalore, Nov 11: Revenue and police officials organized a raid at Coutinho Padavu near Neerumarga and confiscated 6 vehicles from a person who was allegedly stocking sand in the vicinities of his house without a license. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Panambur Subdivision, S Girish, said that the accused failed to produce a license in spite of his claims that he had a license to mine sand. 

Mr. Girish informed that the accused has stocked around 2,000 lorry loads of sand in the vicinity of his house without a license. 

However, the police did arrest the accused because they had no power to do so without an official complaint being lodged by the Mangalore tahsildar.
