Udupi, July 19, 2016: Udupi district police booked at least  580 cases for traffic and other related violations against private buses, lorries, two- wheelers and other vehicles under the month-long ‘Opeartion Suraksha,’ which began in Udupi district on July 18, Monday.

Superintendent of Police, K. Annamalai, said that the police had done patrolling on NH 66 from Hejmady to Shiroor, and on Padubidri to Karkala Road.  Cases had been booked against private buses for overloading, using shrill horns, rash driving and not wearing uniforms while driving.  Public are of the view this is a good exercise and would help the bad driving culture specially in private buses.
