Udupi, Feb 7, 2015 : The Udupi district police is continuing investigation of the death of a student of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), who fell from the fourth floor of an apartment building here on February 1.
Praneeth Reddy (19), who used to stay in the MIT hostel and had gone to meet his three friends at an apartment in Mandavi Emerald building on February 1, fell from the balcony of the fourth floor apartment at 3.30 a.m. and later died.
K. Annamalai, Superintendent of Police, said on Friday that the investigation was continuing in the case.
The police are yet to receive the post-mortem report from Kasturba Hospital. It would take about three days to get the report.
The reason for the death would be known only after the post-mortem report was received, he said.
The student’s father, Raja Sekhar Reddy from Hyderabad, had, in his police complaint, said that he suspected that the other three students in the apartment might have pushed Praneeth Reddy to his death.
Meanwhile, sources in the Police Department said that though there were three students in the apartment on February 1, they were later joined by three others at night.
