Udupi, Mar 16,2017:The Postal Employee’s Union, Udupi division along with the rest of the country, will be participating in the one day nationwide strike called today by the All India Central Government Employees’ Union. All public transactions in post offices across the country will be at a standstill.
All India Central Government Employees’ Union Group C president H K Bhaskar Shetty told reporters that the protest is in support of a 21-point charter of demands which includes revision of minimum pay and fitment factor and no reduction in the rate of allowances as per the 7 CPC recommendations.
With regard to an increase in minimum pay and fitment formula, he said that till date no high level committee had been constituted. He said a group of senior cabinet ministers had assured that a committee would be constituted. "All anomalies arising out of implementation of 7th CPC recommendations remain unsettled. There is no improvement in the issues relating to Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), casual, contract workers and daily mazdoors.
The GDS Committee Report submitted to the Government on November 24, 2016, is yet to be published. Even if it is published, it may take time for implementation. The four month time frame fixed for the Allowance Committee has already been extended to six months," he said.
He said that employees and pensioners are totally disappointed and are voicing their anger and protest through various forums.
