Mangalore, May 29, 2013: There seems to be early onset of monsoon in the state’s coast with Mangalore and other parts of Dakshina Kannada district receiving good rainfall on Tuesday.

The day time temperatures plummeted to a pleasant 28.2 Deg C - a departure of four degree Celsius from the average maximum recorded for the month of May.

Along the coast, Gokarna in Uttara Kannada district received the highest rainfall of 9 cm . Other places in the coast which received good rainfall are: Kiravatti (6 cm), Kumta (5 cm), Subrahmanya (3 cm), Kundapur (2 cm), Moodbidri (1) and Kota (1).

The met department has also issued a warning that strong onshore winds from westerly to northwesterly direction with a speed occasionally reaching 45-55 kmph are likely along off Karnataka coast in the next 24 hours.
