Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, June 26, 2014: Members of District Nagarika Samithi staged aprotest against NDA government for steep prices and futher price hike plus increasing the railway fare at City bus stop.

The Samithi adopted a novel protest. Pieces of sacks were used to make a circle and it was set on fire. Within the circle a LPG cylinder was placed at the center surrounded by a train model. The ambience reverberated with shouting slogans against the BJP led NDA government.

Speaking on the occasion, Samithi President Nityananda Olakadu demanded the Centre to immediately roll back its decision to hike the prices of railway fare, diesel and sugar prices.

The price hike will be a huge burden on common man. The BJP had come to power by making the voters believe that everything will be fine in terms of inflation, once it takes over the administration. However, all the assurances offered by BJP are proving false. He urged the government to take into consideration the miserable condition of the marginalized in the country. “It seems that bad days are ahead for the people in the country,” he ridiculed. ’Achhe din kab ayenge’?
