Public meets in DK till Nov 26 prohibited - orders

Mangaluru, Nov 21, 2015 : : DK District magistrate and DC Adoor B Ibrahim has issued an order prohibiting public/ religious/ political meets, procession, jatha, strike, rasta rokho and all types of protests in Dakshina Kannada district till midnight of November 26.

DK DC Ibrahim issued order as per the Section 35 of the Karnataka Police Act 1963 in the wake of recent untoward incidents in the district. The district magistrate on November 12 had promulgated Section 144 till midnight of November 15 following incidents including a murder reported in the district. Thereafter, an order prohibiting public meets and protests continued till November 20. DC Ibrahim issued a fresh order preventing people from holding public programmes and meets till November 26.

No local authorities will have the powers to grant permissions for public programmes. In case of special programmes, permission should be obtained from the district administration the order states.
