Puttur: Ramakrishna Ashram’s lady staff complains of assault by secretary

Puttur, May 18, 2013: A lady staff of the Ramakrishna Ashram in Puttur has alleged that she has been assaulted by the Ashram Secretary. The woman named Jaya (23), an orphan, has been working as an attendant at the Ashram since five years. The woman who is admitted to the local government hospital has alleged that the Ashram Secretary one Gunapal Jain assaulted and committed atrocities on her. A police complaint has been lodged.

Jaya has alleged that Jain used to harass the women staff of the Ashram and even used to summon some of them to his chamber. “I used to oppose him and therefore he has been nurturing vengeance against me,” alleged Jaya.

Jaya has also said that she would complaint to the women’s commission seeking justice. She has also appealed to women’s organizations to come forward to assist an orphan like her.
