Mangaluru, Mar 14, 2015 : A circular issued on February 6, Department of Public Instruction announced the release of Rs 160.23 crore towards reimbursement for the year 2014-15. Dakshina Kannada had demanded Rs 1,18,02, 472 in the first instalment and Rs 1,18,02,469 in the second instalment, i e: the district requested for a fund of Rs 2,36,04,941 to reimburse the fees. According to the information, both bills have been submitted to the treasury and first one has been drawn and distribution of fund is under progress in the block-level. Second bill would be drawn within a week.
A month after the government’s announcement for the release of funds for reimbursing the fees for the reserved 25 per cent seats under the Right to Education Act (RTE), the first instalment of the fund has been drawn from the treasury and distribution of sum to schools has been started in Dakshina Kannada.
In Bantwal taluk, up to Class three, there are 956 students who have got seat under RTE Act and the taluk wants Rs 52,26,142 for reimbursement. In Belthangady there are 313 students and amount needed is Rs 23,26,011. Mangaluru North and Mangaluru South have 667 and 657 students and they need Rs 25,30,621 and Rs 56,03,266 respectively to reimburse the fees. The Moodbidri has demanded Rs 19,89,666 for 246 students. Puttur and Sullia have demanded Rs 45,63,875 and Rs 13,65,860 respectively for 657 and 184 students. In total, the district had demanded Rs 2,36,04,941 for 3,680 students including 120 of LKG, 44 of UKG, 1,648 of Class one, 1,115 of Class two and 753 Class three students.
In 2014-15, a total of 3,359 applications were submitted for 2,008 available seats under RTE Act and 1,774 students were admitted to Class one/LKG in unaided schools of the district. Matters are monitored.
