Mangalore, April 25: The Mangalore Regional Transport Office (RTO) has collected total revenue of Rs 74.40 for 2009 - 10, which exceeds the state target by 10 percent.
RTO Purushottam has issued a press release, which states that the Mangalore RTO has surpassed the target of Rs 68.10 by Rs 6.3 crore. The RTO has also collected Rs 1.05 crore in fines and taxes by checking 30,296 vehicles during this year. Rs 67 lakh has been collected in the form of fines and Rs 37.51 lakh has been collected as tax. The RTO has seized 215 vehicles and has registered cases against 2,265 vehicles.
In addition to this, the RTO collected a total of Rs 49.13 lakh as overloading fines. They checked 15,159 transport vehicles and booked cases against 343 of them. They also checked 3,346 buses, seized 9 of them, and booked cases against 415 for various violations.
The RTO’s drive against auto rickshaws yielded revenue of Rs 1,200 as fines for demanding excess fare from passengers in 27 cases. They checked 1,737 autos, registered cases against 163, and seized five.
The RTO also cancelled the licenses of 114 transport vehicles and has recommended 127 more to the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of other districts for cancellation of licenses.
