Mangaluru, Feb 14, 2015: The Regional Transport Office, Mangaluru, has been upgraded as the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Transport. Consequently, Afzal Ahmed Khan, Regional Transport Officer, Mangaluru, has been promoted as the Deputy Commissioner of Transport and Senior Regional Transport Officer. He assumed the new role here on Friday.

The government had upgraded four offices of Deputy Commissioners of Transport — Mysuru, Shivamogga, Belagavi and Kalaburagi — as Joint Commissioners of Transport. It also upgraded 15 RTOs to Deputy Commissioners of Transport and promoted senior RTOs as Deputy Commissioners of Transport to manage those offices.
