May 2: The union minister of railways has announced at the Union Budget 2010 - 11 that 100 percent concession in AC 3 Tier and Sleeper Class for cancer patients commuting to and from reputed hospitals for treatment and check up. 

According to the press release, the escorts will get a concession of 75 percent in AC 3 Tier and Sleeper Class. Cancer patients can avail of 100 percent concession only in the basic fares of mail/express trains; they have to pay all other charges. 

The concession provided for cancer patients and their escorts in the second/first class/AC chair car remains 75 percent and in AC 2 Tier and First AC remains 50 percent.
