Railway police arrest 5 for trying to rob train passengers

Mangalore, Oct 25, 2012: The railway police have arrested 5 people who were trying to rob passengers at Mangalore Central Railway Station.

The arrested Mohammed Irfan (18) of Bajpe, Raghu (19) of Kunjathbail, Mohammed Feroz (19) of Kavoor, Mohammed Sadiq (18) of Kavoor, and Hamaaz (19) were later released on
bail, said sources.

The five were caught going through luggage belonging to passengers of the West Coast Express on the night of Oct 22. On the basis of complaints lodged by passengers, the railway police arrested them.

The five admitted that they had boarded the train without tickets, owing to which police felt that they had boarded the train with the purpose of stealing from passengers.
