Mangalore, Nov 11: A rain holiday was declared for all schools in Dakshina Kannada on Nov 12, Thursday. A decision on whether a holiday is to be declared on Friday will be taken as per the situation on Thusday.
As soon as the India Meteorological Department’s warning of heavy cyclonic rains came through, the district commissioner instructed the tahsildars and assistant commissioners to take the required precautionary measures in case of disasters. All village accountants and revenue inspectors were directed to be present at their headquarters in case their presence was required.
The officials were also instructed to work day and night and set up relief centers in certain identified schools and colleges and temporary shelters in case of a possible flood. The DC also instructed that response teams be formed at once to tackle any disaster if it arises.
Krishna Palemar, the district-in-charge minister, said that all the required arrangements will be made to tackle any disaster that the cyclonic rain might cause.
