Mangalore, Aug 27, 2012: Scheduled flights could not land at Mangalore Airport on August 26, Sunday because of rains, fog, and poor visibility.
The AIX flight, which arrived from Dubai during the early hours of the morning, could not land and was diverted to Kozhikode. That evening, a Kozhikode – Mangalore – Kuwait flight, which was supposed to pick up passengers in Mangalore, was diverted back to Kozhikode because it could not land. Passengers from Dubai to Mangalore, who had been taken to Kozhikode that morning, were sent to Mangalore by this flight, but they were disappointed that they could not land and had to be sent back. The flight could not proceed to Kuwait because many of the passengers had to get off at Mangalore. Instead, it had to go back to Kozhikode.
According to sources at the airport, flights to Kuwait, Dubai, and Bahrain had to be disrupted. As a result, fifty passengers bound to Bahrain and 47 passengers bound to Kuwait had to be provided accommodation.
