Mnagaluru, Sep 25, 2015 : Addressing media Sept 24, district unit president Ravikiran Punacha said that Dakshina Kannada district unit of KRRS - Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha and Hasiru Sene will block the National Highway on September 30, demanding the fulfillment of various demands.
Major demands were to take immediate measures to check suicide of farmers, waiving off farmer loans, new policy to address farmers’ grievances, to exclude agricultural sector from World Trade Organisation, to fix scientific rates for agricultural products, to provide permanent irrigation facilities in Dakshina Kannada district, to take measures to control the menace of wild animals, to spot the import of rubber, to shelve Niddodi power plant, to regularise the forest lands where agriculture is being carried out and to provide 12 hours non-interrupted power supply for farmers’ pump sets.
He further said that the farmer leaders and religious leaders will take part in the protest. KRRS general secretary Suresh Bhat Kolambe, Treasurer Manjunath Rao Parari, Conveners Roopesh Rai Alimar were present.
