Renovated shrine of Cordel Church Founder inaugurated

Mangalore, Dec 12, 2012: Mangalore Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the renovated shrine of Fr Alexander Dubois, the founder of Holy Cross Church, Cordel, Kulshekar  on December 11, Tuesday.  The inauguration was held on the occasion of the 135th death anniversary of Fr Alexander Dubois who was fondly known as Frad Saib.  

Speaking at a function held in this connection, Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza  recollected the history of the Cordel Church  and said Fr Dubois who came to Mangalore in the year 1865,later laid the foundation for the Cordel church in September 1873 when he was the parish priest of Milagres Church.

The Bishop felicitated donors and sponsors on the occasion and released a book on the history of Cordel Church and Fr Alexander Dubois authored by Fr Devadatta Kamath.

Parishioners and a large number of devotees attended the function.

Earlier,  Fr Patrick Rodrigues offered the Holy Eucharistic Mass followed by a Eucharistic procession. There was adoration and festal blessings by Fr Valerian, Parish Priest of Cordel  Church and Fr Patrick.
