MANGALURU: As per reports in the press, Director general and inspector general of police Om Prakash who was in the city on April 7, said committee has been set up to look into the grievances of retired police officers in the state.
He told media the committee headed by an ADGP rank officer will examine major demands put forth by retired police officials, including extension of ’Arogya Bhagya’ health insurance scheme and police canteen facility. He reported said that it is not possible to extend the Arogya Bhagya scheme for retired personnel as it is a reimbursement package. The committee will go into details of other new schemes available for the benefit of the retired officers. A database of all retired police officials and will have to created a corpus fund to sustain such schemes, he added that the government will look into their demands for canteen facility.
On the increasing instances of cyber crimes and misuse of social media, Om Prakash said the department is all set to launch a special cyber cell in Bengaluru.
He said that city police commissioner S Murugan has requested setting up of three police stations in the jurisdiction - Traffic South, Kaikamba and Jeppu. This will considered he stated. The DG & IGP will be holding a meeting with coastal security police officials in Udupi on April 8.
