SFI protest rally turns violent

Mangalore, June 8, 2012 : The SFI organized a protest rally to urge the police to arrest the people who allegedly killed Anish Raj, the district joint secretary of the SFI. However, the protest, which began peacefully, soon turned violent.

The police resorted to lathi charge when some SFI workers tried to cross the barricades, in response to which the protestors pelting stones at the police. Several police officers and protestors were injured.

Salu Mathew, SFI district secretary, and Sabish led the rally, which began at Kotacheri and ended at the protest venue.
