Mangalore, April 22: The West Range of Students’ Islamic Organization (SIO) of India is organizing Summer Festival 2010 on April 24 – 25, said Secretary of SIO West Range Muhammed Nisar at a press conference held on April 22, Thursday.
He also informed journalists that a massive marathon will be held with the purpose of spreading the message of peace and brotherhood on April 25, Sunday at 7:30 a.m. It will commence at Jyothi Circle and will end on Nehru Maidan. Students in the age group of 11 – 14, irrespective of caste, religion, community, and color, are expected to participate in this marathon.
Arman, a junior associate of SIO, said that competitions such as quiz, singing, elocution, skits, cultural programmes, and sports events such as running race, kabbaddi, and others will be organized on the eve of Summer Festival 2010. Students in the age group of 11 – 14 can participate in this summer camp. The children who obtain first, second, and third places will be given cash prizes of Rs 1500, Rs 1000, and Rs 500, respectively.
Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj, MLA U T Khader, and many eminent personalities of Mangalore will participate in this programme.
President of SIO West Range Ashfaq Ahmed Shareef and Convener of Summer Festival 2010 Muhammed Parvez were present during the press conference.
