Udupi, Oct 22, 2015 : Addressing media Oct 21, Neelavar Surendra Adiga, President of district unit of KSP - Kannada Sahitya Parishat, said in the last three years, the district unit of KSP had held 1,017 literary functions in the district to promote Kannada language. It had published 22 booklets on the achievers of the district. Efforts to popularize Kannada literature among the school students are on going. The district unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat would hold a literary function here on October 24.
The literary function is to be held at the Bhavani Mantapa in the Ambalpady Temple Complex here at 2.30 p.m. A book “Hejje Gurutu” would be released. Pradeep Kumar Hebri, writer, would be given the Aklanka Datti Puraskara. A book “Karnataka Shabdhanushasana – Samagra Adhyayana” by U. Rama Bhat would be released on the occasion.
Dr. U. Rama Bhat, a writer, Ratnavati, a teacher, and Sural Narayan Madi, had provided an amount of Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 30,000 to the Parishath for creating endowment fund. The government had provided 10.5 cents of land at Brahmagiri for the construction of a Kannada Bhavana. Already Rs. 1 lakh had been collected for the construction of the Bhavan. The three-year tenure of the present body of the district unit of the KSP will come to an end on November 3. Subramanya Basri, Treasurer of district unit of KSP, Upendra Somayaji, President of Udupi taluk unit of KSP, were present.
